Autumn
Autumn 2
What brilliant learning this half term!
Our topic this half term was Celebrations.
We started off learning about Bonfire Night, and the story of Guy Fawkes.
We did some fantastic bonfire night writing, learning about adjectives as a way of making our writing even more fantastic.
Our next celebration was Diwali. We learnt that Diwali is the festival of light. People light special lamps and celebrate by eating lots of yummy food. We made our own rangoli patterns.
Then we learnt about birthdays! We learnt that celebrating a birthday means you become another year older. We looked at photos of our birthdays from the past.
Then we had a party! We made decorations for our party and even made sandwiches for the occasion. We had so much fun playing party games and dancing with our friends.
We finished this term by learning about Hanukkah and Christmas.
We have done lots of arts and crafts and celebrated by performing the Nativity, Christmas jumper day and eating a yummy Christmas dinner.
Autumn 1
We have had such a wonderful start to our Primary School journey!
We started the year with our topic 'All about Me'.
We got settled in our new classrooms, made classroom rules, introduced ourselves to our new friends, started to write our name and drew pictures of ourselves.
Then we started our learning about our new season, Autumn. We went on a leaf hunt, looked at signs of Autumn and made some beautiful Autumn themed art.
Our next theme was 'What makes me a me?'
We learnt about the Zones of Regulation- Red, Yellow, Green and Blue.
We looked at differences and similarities between ourselves and friends. We made self portraits too!
Then learnt all about Families.
We learnt to name and describe familiar people, and people important to us. We brought in pictures from home and enjoyed circle time describing our family members.
We learnt about the life cycle of humans, and the different stages of life.
We have also been doing lots of Maths and Phonics everyday, learning new sounds following our scheme Little Wandle.
