Acorn SEMH Provision

Our enhanced provision for KS2 children is based at White Bridge Primary School in Loughton. We support children whose progression in their current school is of concern due to barriers caused by behaviour, emotional well being needs or social difficulties. Some of these children will have had early childhood trauma or attachment difficulties, some may be diagnosed with other differences such as ADHD.

Our curriculum, The 6 Core Strengths, supports children to develop attachment, affiliation, self regulation, awareness, tolerance and respect.

As well as exploring and developing the 6 core strengths through a variety of explicit and expressive activities, children who attend the provisions also engage in more formal learning such as maths, reading, writing and creative arts when they are ready to do so.

The provision offer 2 levels of support:

Outreach work: When appropriate, provisions can support local schools through consultation, inreach support for staff or a package to support the referring school to work with their pupil in their own setting.

School partnership: A pupil is referred to one of our provisions for two terms, and supported to reintegrate back to the referring school.

Who can apply?

Referrals can be made by any Essex primary school within reasonable travelling distance.  Parents or carers wishing to know more, should ask their child's school to contact us.

The Process

Refarrals are heard by a panel made up of local head teachers, provsion leads, inclusion partners and when possible, a SENDOPS representitive.

If your referral is unsuccessful, advice will be given to help you to support your pupil within school.

If your referral is successful, you will meet the provsion team and begin the New Starter process.
